Eanes ISD

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has taken COVID-19 off their list of Notifiable Conditions that must be reported. Because of this change, neither parents nor staff need to notify the district of a positive COVID test result. However, if your child is sick and will not be attending school, you still need to let the school know about their absence.

To align with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, DSHS has also released a new communicable disease chart for schools and childcare centers. This change means students who test positive for COVID-19, influenza, RSV, or other respiratory illnesses may now return to school when they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine. Students must also feel well enough to return to school.  Please see the Eanes ISD website for more information on COVID protocols

My name is Ana Hymel.  I am delighted to be the school nurse at Valley View Elementary.

I lived in Pasadena, California.  My husband, a native Texan, had the opportunity to relocate back to Austin and here we are!  We have two daughters, Audrey (8th grade) and Natalie (6th grade) at Hill Country Middle School.   After trying multiple sports (dance, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, basketball) they finally decided that they love swimming.

I have always enjoyed working with pediatrics.  I worked at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles primarily in the Hematology/Oncology unit.  While my daughters were young, I volunteered and substituted as a school nurse for Eanes ISD.  In the midst of the pandemic, I decided to return to work full time as a nurse.

This school year is very unique, as the school nurse I look forward to providing the best health care for your kids during their school day.

If you have any questions you may reach me via phone or email.  I look forward to a great school year.
